It’s a lazy, rainy Sunday here in New Jersey, but I’m not like Shirley Manson. I am not only happy when it rains. Not to mention last night was an awful sports night for me. My Rangers are on the brink of elimination from the Stanley Cup playoffs. My mood is a bit damp today. Everyone runs into those kinds of days, right?
So here are a few things that always brightens my day, so I hope it does the same for you.
Listen to “The Ocean”
I have lots of favorite songs, but there is only one song I have dubbed my “happy song.” No matter my mood, I am always in a better mood after I listen to Led Zeppelin’s “The Ocean.”
Watch Foo Fighters videos
If you’ve been paying attention, you know I’m a big fan of the Foos. Part of the reason is the band’s sense of humor, which comes through in quite a number of their videos.
No, not the green creature featured in Mario Bros. video games. He’s a rabbit owned by my friend Leeanne Griffin’s brother. Leeanne (@FunWithCarbsLG) posts photos of Yoshi frequently on her Twitter account with the #DailyYoshi tag.

Paul Mara on the microphone
One of former Ranger Paul Mara’s greatest moments might have been when he was wearing a microphone during a game in the 2008-09 season. Hey, it even includes him singing Christmas carols.
Look at photos of my happy places
Everyone has happy places, right? I’ve got plenty of great photos of mine, and I’m always transported there when I look at them.
